We encourage your imagery and encourage conversation. We welcome your questions, comments and debate on our social media platforms including posting by PPOA Administrators, members and public on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and of re-tweeting third party posts.
We value the opinion of our audience, but will distinguish between comments that contain constructive, relevant arguments and those that are abusive, offensive or could be construed as a personal attack. We expect all commentators to consider the impact of their words and take responsibility for them. If we determine that a comment is not in keeping with the spirit of this policy, we will remove it.
We will also remove illegal, slanderous, defamatory comments and spam and advertising will be moderated.

The Essendon Football Club Past Players & Officials Association values you and recognises that privacy is important to you and appreciates that you are concerned about your privacy and about the confidentiality and security of information we may collect about you.
This Privacy Policy explains how we manage your personal information that we collect through the website operated by us; through software applications made available by us for use on, or through computers and mobile devices; through our social media channels that we control; through HTML-formatted email messages / newsletters that we send to you and through your communications with us; through your membership; your purchase of any provided services.
This Privacy Policy shall also cover all membership data base information, the Association ability to receive payments including subscriptions / events via credit card / internet banking, posting on website including condolences, newsletters and promotions.
In addition to this Privacy Policy, there may also be specific and additional privacy provisions, which apply to our collection and use of your personal information e.g., information provided when participating in a promotion, entering a competition, subscribing to a newsletter, or participating in a survey. If there is any inconsistency between this Privacy Policy and those specific and additional provisions, the specific and additional provisions will prevail.
THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU
The types of personal information we collect about you will depend on what services you use or products you acquire. This may include collecting your name, postal address, telephone number and your email address; credit and debit card details or any other payment data including transaction details/history; date of birth; goods and services purchased, whatever other information you choose to supply to allow us to provide products and services to you.
We may also collect information about family members and companions including names, images, video and audio data including interests, activities, hobbies, dietary requirements, that you advise us.
If you provide any personal information about other people to us, you represent that you have the authority to do so and permit us to use the data in accordance with our Privacy Statement.
HOW PERSONAL INFORMATION IS COLLECTED AND HELD
We collect personal information when you book an event; purchase goods and services from our websites or apps; communicate with us, or otherwise connect with us or post to social media pages or sign up for a newsletter. We hold personal information electronically, both at our own premises and with the assistance of our third-party service providers. We implement a range of measures to protect the security of that personal information.
COOKIES
We collect cookie information when you visit our website. Cookies are pieces of information that a website can transfer to an individual’s computer hard drive for record keeping. The use of cookies is an industry standard and many websites use them. Cookies are useful for facilitating a user’s access to and use of a site. They allow us to track usage patterns and compile data that can help us improve our services to you. Cookie information is used in aggregated form – we do not use it to identify you as an individual. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION AND WHO WE MAY DISCLOSE IT TO
The information that we collect from you is strictly confidential. We do not sell, rent, loan, trade or lease the addresses stored in our database to any unrelated third parties. The Association uses the information you provide to us to help you access the services or acquire the goods that the Association provides more easily.
We also use personal information to provide services you request including to administer event bookings, subscription payment, send administration information including confirmations and information prior to your booking, to assist you with meetings and events and provide you with any other information that will assist you; to improve our products and services and tailor them to your interests.
We may also send you marketing material about tailored products and services we believe are suited to you and your interests; and communicate with you using social media channels and platforms. If you do not wish to receive any of this material you may simply choose ‘unsubscribe’ from our mailing list or contact us using the details below, and no further material or communications will be sent to you.
We use personal information and other data for data analysis; security and fraud monitoring and prevention; enhancing, improving and developing new goods and services; determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns and identifying usage trends.
The Association engages certain trusted third parties (including data hosting and processing companies, and information technology providers, reservation and client management systems and operators of social media channels and platforms) to help us provide, improve and promote our services and communicate with our members. We will only disclose your personal information to these third parties to perform tasks on our behalf and in compliance with this Privacy Policy. We take steps to ensure that our service providers are obliged to protect the privacy and security of your personal information and use it only for the purpose for which it is disclosed. In providing us with your personal information, you consent to this disclosure. This may also include the provision of membership lists to third party website provider to create Member Only log in access.
The Association will not disclose your personal information for purposes or to parties other than those outlined above without your consent.
RETENTION
We will retain your personal information for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined within their Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include the length of time we have an ongoing relationship with you and provide the services to you; whether there is a legal obligation to which we are subject (for example, certain laws require us to keep records of your transaction for a certain of time before we can delete them); whether retention is advisable considering our legal position such as statutes of limitations, litigation or regulatory investigations.
USER GENERATED CONTENT
If you post reviews or comments on our websites, social media channels or third-party booking platforms, you grant the Association and its affiliates a non-exclusive, royalty free, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, and display such reviews and comments throughout the world in any media. You also grant the Association and its affiliates the right to use the name that you submit with any review or comment, if any, in connection with such review or comment.
LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES
The Association’s websites provide links to websites outside of the Association’s services. These linked sites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for the conduct of companies linked to our website. Before disclosing your personal information on any other website, we advise you to examine the privacy policy and terms and conditions of that website.
STORAGE AND SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Any personal information that we collect about members, including email addresses, will be kept in the Association’s database. The database will be accessible only by those authorised to perform normal daily tasks such as updating addresses, managing bookings and renewing membership. The Association will take all reasonable precautions to protect the personal information it holds from any misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
The internet is not a secure environment. If you use the internet to send us any personal information, the Association will not be liable for events arising from unauthorised access to your information. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please immediately notify us in accordance with the ‘Contact Us’ section below.
ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION
You have the right to access and correct most of the personal information we hold about you. If you wish to have access to or correct your information, please send us an email or letter at the addresses provided below. If the Association does not allow you to access or correct your personal information, we will provide you with the reasons for our decision.
ACCURACY OF YOUR INFORMATION
Once we receive personal information from you, we take all reasonable steps to ensure that all the information we collect, use or disclose us accurate and up to date. If you think that any of your personal information held by us in inaccurate, please send us an email or letter in accordance with the ‘Contact Us’ section below and we will take reasonable steps to ensure that it is corrected.
