Player Profile

Known as "Weary", Billy Wilson was a rugged, battling ruckman who came from the Ascot Vale Presbyterians. He had great stamina and loved it tough, but had difficulty holding down a regular senior spot.

He went to Sandringham in 1934 and early 1935 before returning to Essendon later that year.

Wilson was also an excellent cricketer. He played Shield Cricket for Victoria and was captain of the Essendon Cricket Team in the 1940s.

He worked for the Melbourne Harbour Trust, and died on 30th Sept., 1976.
