WELCH, Dick

Charles "Dick" Welch was a defender from Nagambie. He played 11 games for Essendon between 1936 and 1938.

He returned to Nagambie in 1938 and was in the team that went unbeaten through the season and won the 1938 Waranga North East Football Association premiership.

He returned to Melbourne in 1939 and joined Coburg. He later served as a lieutenant in the 2nd AIF during World War II.

He was also a leading rower and was captain of the Nagambie Rowing Club.

Welch died on 17th October, 2002.
