Ernie Watson was a half-back flanker who played 23 games in 1929 and 1930.

He made his debut in Round 2, 1929, and played 13 consecutive games, finishing with 15 for the year. He played only eight games in 1930, his last was in Round 15 against North Melbourne.

Watson joined Oakleigh later in 1930 and was a member of their 1930 premiership side.

Like a number of other Essendon players of the time, Watson was a fireman with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade.

He died on 5th May, 1982.
