WALKER, Bill "Johnnie"

Bill "Johnnie" Walker was a top ruckman and forward who joined Essendon from Collingwood Juniors.

He was one of Essendon's best players in the forward pocket and ruck in the 1911 premiership win and was also in the same role in the 1912 premiership victory.

In 1913, he was charged with elbowing Fitzroy's Jim Martin (ex-Essendon player) but the charge was dismissed.

Walker was Essendon's leading goalkicker in 1915 with 14 goals and was equal second in 1912.

He was also selected in the League side against a country team in 1912.

Walker had an interrupted season in 1914 when he sought a clearance to Fitzroy, but he was back in 1915 and played in all but the first game for that year. He didn't resume his career once Essendon rejoined the League in 1918 after standing out in 1916 and 1917.
