Ray Thomas was a solidly-built and rugged back pocket player who came from Flemington CYMS through the Seconds to play four games in early 1945.
He debuted in Round 1 that year in a 71 point thrashing of Hawthorn at Windy Hill. He played the next two rounds, a draw with Fitzroy and a 100 point win over Carlton in Round 3. His last game was a narrow loss to Richmond in Round 6 and his senior career was over.
In his four games he experienced two wins, a loss and a draw.
Thomas then joined Warrnambool in 1946 before playing two games with South Melbourne in late 1946 and 1947.
