Conrad Ten Brink only played a single season with Essendon. His final game was in the 1898 Grand Final against Fitzroy which Essendon lost by 15 points.
A follower, he had enjoyed a successful career at Albury, where his German-born father operated the Globe Hotel. His final game for Essendon was in the losing Grand Final. He then returned to Albury and played there for several more years.
He later had extensive business interests in Brisbane.
Some records say he was of Chinese descent but no evidence has been found to support this. According to family trees on Ancestry.com, his father was German and his mother was Irish.
Ten Brink was visiting relatives in Benalla when he died suddenly on 3rd March, 1938.
