Arthur "Archie" Snell was a forward and follower from Williamstown. He had also played with West Melbourne and Brunswick.
He became a talented rover who played particularly well in greasy conditions. He came to Essendon after playing 92 games with Carlton between 1902 and 1907.
His only game for Essendon was in the four point win over Fitzroy in Round 6.
Archie Snell died on 18th July, 1949.
