Jim Quinn was a fine, left-footed ruckman and forward from Essendon Juniors whose game improved over time and he became a regular.

He was won of Essendon's best players in the three point loss to Melbourne in a final in 1926, and won Essendon's Most Improved Player award in 1930.

Quinn was transferred in his employment to Sydney in 1931 and he left when Essendon was unable to find an equivalent position in Melbourne for him. He was a naval cartographer and was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1960 for his work on chart correction for the Royal Australian Navy.

Jim Quinn died on 3rd January 1986.
