George "Mick" Pleass was a top ruckman who played 109 games with South Melbourne from 1897 to early 1904. He became a field umpire for a few games in 1902, but soon returned to continue playing with South Melbourne.

He played the first three rounds of 1904 with South Melbourne then crossed to Essendon where he played in Rounds 5 to 8 before seeking a clearance to Western Australia. He joimed WA Goldfields League side, Boulder Stars. He made a promising start with his new club before an injury in the 1906 season brought an abrupt end to his career.

He represented Victoria three times.
