Stephen Pirrie was a defender who came from St Kilda where he played six games in 1984. Prior to that he played with Old Xaverians and then 12 games with Richmond in 1982 and 1983.
His only game for Essendon was a Round 17 loss to Carlton in 1985.
In 1987, he resumed his career at Port Melbourne.
Pirrie came from a strong footballing family. His father, Kevin, played 10 games for Hawthorn (1941, 1946), and his uncle, Richard, played three games for Hawthorn (1940-1941) (he was the first Australian killed in the D-Day landings at Normandy in 1944). His grandfather, Richard, played 24 games for Melbourne (1899-1900).
