Charlie Morley was a half-back flanker who came to Essendon from Paddington, NSW.
His only games for Essendon were in Rounds 1, 3 and 11, 1906, for wins over Melbourne and St Kilda and a loss to South Melbourne.
He returned to play with Paddington in 1911.
Morley enlisted in the AIF in June 1915 and served in France as a lieutenant with the Siege Artillery Brigade. He was Mentioned in Despatches in January 1917 and survived the War but became a victim of the influenza pandemic. He developed bronchopneumonia and died in London on 13 April 1919, while being transported to the Royal Herbert Hospital, Woolwich. He is buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery in Surrey.
