Dick Molloy was a rover and forward from Sandhurst.
His only games for Essendon were in Rounds 10 and 11, 1941, for a win against Melbourne and a loss to Footscray. He was a reserve in both games. His career was interrupted by his Army service during the World War II.
Molloy enlisted in the Army on 22 August 1941, just six weeks after playing his last game for Essendon. He served in Australia, then New Britain and Borneo before his discharge on 17th April 1946. He wasted no time in resuming his football career and joined North Melbourne in 1946. He played his first game for North on 4th June in 1946 and eventually played 19 games between 1946 and 1947.
He gave his occupation as transport driver on his enlistment papers and served in that role during his Army service.
Molloy died on 29th January, 1995.
