Norm McLean was a follower and defender from Williamstown District.
He played six games for Essendon in 1920.
He worked as an inspector with the Public Works Department.
He enlisted in the Army on 4th April 1917 and was discharged as medically unfit after suffering gas poisoning in France in August 1918 while serving with the 7th Field Artillery. When World War II broke out he enlisted again, on 11th June 1942. Too old for active service, he was assigned to the 13th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps as a lieutenant, and later captain.
McLean died on 19th December, 1980.
