Mick McFarlane was a full-back from Coburg who was 27 years old when he made his senior debut.
He played 11 games for Essendon in 1936 and early 1937.
Prior to Coburg, he had played with Euroa and earlier still in 1926 with North Melbourne Seconds.
McFarlane lacked pace and agility, but managed to carve out a 43-game career with North Melbourne between 1937 and 1940.
He served with the RAAF in New Guinea and the Islands in World War II and played with the services.
McFarlane took up umpiring in the Mornington Peninsula League on his return.
He was licensee of the Bayview Hotel at Kensington for many years before he retired.
He died on12th October, 1981, at the age of 75.
