Jimmy "Skeeter" Larkin was a forward who joined Essendon from North Melbourne with a big reputation.
He was a good ball handler who later played on the wing. Larkin was a consistently good performer in big games and was one of Essendon's best in the 1901 premiership side playing as a half-forward flanker.
In an era of low scoring Larkin was among Essendon's best goalkickers in three of his seasons. He kicked 14 goals in 1899 and again in 1900, including five against Geelong, the most by any Essendon player in a game that year, and 17 in 1901, with a bag of five against Carlton.
