KICKETT, Dale

Dale Kickett became only the third player in history to play at five VFL/AFL clubs.

He arrived at Essendon in 1994 after short stints of only one season at three consecutive League clubs: Fitzroy 1990, West Coast Eagles 1991 and St Kilda 1992.

He had returned to his home state of Western Australia in 1993 and had enjoyed a magnificent year with Claremont in the WAFL where he won the Simpson Medal for best on ground in the WAFL Grand Final in 1991 and 1993.

Kickett played just eight games for Essendon in 1994 before he was traded to Fremantle in a complex deal that saw Matthew Lloyd come to Essendon.

He finally found his niche playing in defence at Fremantle and became a fine player for that club, playing 131 games there. He was the first to play 100 games for the Dockers.

Altogether he played 177 games at five League clubs.

His first cousin was Lance "Buddy" Franklin and Derek Kickett was a cousin of Dale's father.
