Ron "Doutsy" Jory was a follower and half-forward from Oakleigh. He played 18 of a possible 20 games in 1945 but then requested a trade back to Oakleigh which was refused so he played on in 1946. He played seven games but was troubled by a leg injury and struggled to break into the strong 1946 side.
He then rejoined Oakleigh from 1947 to 1949, captaining the team in 1947 and playing in the losing Grand Final in 1949. He played for Yarrawonga in 1950 then moved to Ararat in 1951 as playing coach. He kicked five goals in their Grand Final victory over Minyip in 1951. He played at Ararat for two more years before accepting the coach's position at St Arnaud. However he controversially resigned on the eve of the season, claiming the offered accommodation was unsatisfactory.
His uncle, Percy Jory, was a star with St Kilda (60 games, 1912-1915, 1920).
Ron Jory died on the 16th March 2013.
