Essendon-born Jack Johnson was a rover from North Essendon Methodists who joined the Seconds in 1945.
He played five games in 1947 and kicked four goals against Geelong in Round 4.
Johnson had the ability to turn out of trouble with ease and although short, he was not wanting in commitment.
His career at Essendon was cut short when he joined the Navy in 1947, where he served until 1962, and his remaining football was played in the Services.
Johnson later lived in Hong Kong for twenty years.
He died on 29th January, 2008.
