HILL, Russell

Russell Hill was a defender who came from Beechworth and was mainly used as a fill-in for the regular defenders.

He was a safe mark and had good judgment.

He played one game late in 1944 then missed the 1945 season due to his service in the RAAF during World War II.

Hill was a surprise selection on the half-back flank in the 1946 second semi-final, but was not included in the successful Grand Final team.

He played seven games in 1947.

Hill died on the 19th November 1987.
