Player Profile

Bob “Humpty” Greenwood was a courageous and fearless rover who came from Pascoe Vale to the Under 19s in 1966. He won the Under 19s Most Consistent and the Best Player Final Series that year.

He suffered a severe knee injury in the early part of 1968, but came back to be the second top goalkicker at Essendon in 1970. He was also third top Brownlow Medal vote scorer in that year. He won the Best Clubman award in 1968.

Greenwood left Essendon when he still had plenty of football left and went to Claremont in Western Australia from 1972 to 1975. He represented Western Australia in the Carnival in 1972.

After this, he became captain-coach of Kedron in Queensland in 1976 and then captain-coach of Griffith in New South Wales from 1977 to 1979 and coach of that club in 1982 and 1983.

In 1986 Greenwood was assistant coach of Coolangatta in Queensland and then in 1987 coached Southport Under 19s to the flag.
