FORSYTH, Jim

Jim Forsyth was a ruckman who came from Thorpdale and was mainly used as a fill-in when the regular ruckmen were out. Fifteen of his 29 games were as a reserve.

He won the Reserves' Best and Fairest award in 1964.

Forsyth went high for the knockout but was not helped by injuries, including a badly injured leg which led to him missing most of 1965.

He went to West Torrens with John Birt when Birt was elected captain-coach. He played there from 1968 to 1970 and was selected in the South Australian State side in 1968 and the Carnival side in 1969.

In 1971 and 1972 Forsyth played with Yarrawonga, from 1973 to 1976 he was captain-coach of Drouin and he then was captain-coach of Trafalgar in 1977 and 1978. He finally returned to Thorpdale as coach from 1984 to 1986.

He lives at Narracan where he has a farm.

His son, Tim, was an Olympic high jumper, who won a bronze medal in 1992.
