Player Profile

Vic Fisher was a fine wingman from West Perth FC where he played in 1947 after returning from overseas service with the RAAF during the World War II.

Unfortunately, he only stayed with Essendon for two seasons, although he played in two Grand Finals in those two years, losing the first and winning the second.

Fisher was solid and had the speed to keep with most opponents and the weight to outbump them all. He didn't need many kicks to be effective with his low and fast passes.

He was on the wing in the 1949 premiership victory. The year before, in 1948, he was a reserve in the Grand Final team after winning the Best First Year Player award in that year.

Fisher left Essendon after completing his university studies in 1950 to return to Western Australia and he again played with West Perth from 1950 to 1952, being a member of their premiership team in 1951.

As well as being a top footballer, he also played cricket for Western Australia.

Fisher was involved in aged care for many years and was president of WA Nursing Home Association for several years.

He died on 8th April, 1999.
