John Emin was a tall and strong follower and forward who arrived at Essendon from Hobart where he had represented Tasmania in 1971.
He played made his debut in Round 21 in an away loss to Fitzroy. He played the following week against Collingwood at home and played his last game for the Club in the Elimination Final loss to St Kilda, in which he kicked a goal.
Emin then returned to Tasmania to captain Hobart in 1974 and 1975 and in his first season back was runner-up for the William Leitch Medal for the Best and Fairest Player in the Tasmanian League. He also represented Tasmania from 1974 to 1977.
Emin then played with Burnie in 1976 and 1977 before becoming captain-coach of Wynyard in Tasmania from 1978 to 1980 winning a premiership in 1979.
He moved to Canberra as captain-coach of Eastlake in 1981 and 1982 and returned to Wynyard as captain in 1983 and 1984 and captain-coach in 1985.
In 1986 Emin went back to captain-coach Burnie and in 1987 was captain-coach of Yeoman in Burnie.
