EGAN, Kevin

Kevin Egan was a talented rover and wingman who came from Moonee Ponds YCW to the Essendon Under 19s. He won the Morrish Medal in 1962 as the League's best Under 19s player although he only came second in the Club's award that year.

He was small but solidly built and just short of the pace to make him a star. He made up in determination for what he lacked in size.

Egan was a reserve in the 1965 premiership team, having earlier run second in the Gardiner Medal for Best and Fairest in the VFL Reserves. He was also named as Best Player in the Reserves premiership side in 1968.

After leaving Essendon, he went to Port Adelaide in 1970 and then joined Williamstown in 1971 and 1972 and Scottsdale in Tasmania in 1973.

He then became captain-coach of Reservoir-Lakeside in 1974 and 1975 and won the flag in 1975.

He returned to the Club as team manager from 1977 to 1991. He then served on the Committee from 1995 to 2014, including eight years as Chairman of Selectors.

He was inducted into Essendon's Hall of Fame in 2015.
