DUSSELL, Harry

Harry Dussell was a ruckman and defender from Moonee Ponds Juniors. Despite his French heritage (his name was actually Henri and his father was French), Harry was a true local, being born in Essendon in 1900.

He made his debut in Round 1, 1919, and went on to play in every game but one that year. He also proved handy around goals kicking 14 goals that year. Only one Essendon player kicked more.

He played all but one game again in 1920 and played his final two games the following year.

When he left Essendon he went on to play with Williamstown.

A storeman, he later moved to New South Wales where he died on 22nd December, 1977.
