Tony Delaney was a speedy wingman who played some very good games with Essendon. At the end of 1994 he was moved on to the Fremantle Dockers in a complex trade with Dale Kickett and Todd Ridley in exchange for picks which Essendon used to select Matthew Lloyd and Scott Lucas. A definite win for the Bombers!
He was restricted by injuries, but played 28 games for Fremantle in three seasons. He represented Western Australia in 1995. In 1997, after an MRI scan, abnormalities were found in muscle tissue in both of his quadriceps and he underwent surgery to repair the problem.
He moved to St Kilda in 2000 where he had his most successful season, playing all 22 games. He played a further 11 games in 2001 before being delisted.
He returned to Western Australia in 2002 and played three seasons with Claremont.
