Player Profile

Bert Day was one of the finest full-backs of his era.

He debuted in Round 14, 1914, in a home win over Melbourne and then played the last two games of the season.

In 1915 he was one of only two Essendon players (the other was Percy Ogden) to play every game for the year.

Essendon, along with some other clubs, withdrew from the League in 1916 and 1917 when the League refused to allocate gate takings to the war effort, but Day returned in 1918 and again played every game that year.

He represented Victoria in 1920.

Day played until 1921, his last game was in Round 10 in a home loss to Geelong.

He died on 15th May, 1949.
