Barry Day was a half-forward and ruck-rover who came from West Perth where he had played from 1972 to 1978. He was a member of that club's premiership side in 1975 and was equal Best and Fairest at West Perth in 1978.
He had great pace, but never really settled into the tempo of League football. He came with a top reputation having represented Western Australia in 1977 and 1978 before joining Essendon and played 15 games in 1979 and 1980.
He then went to Collingwood in early 1980 and played in their Reserves.
