Quick for his size, Darcy Daniher showed enough to suggest he could hold down a role as an attacking defender or as a key forward, before injuries prematurely ended his promising career after only six games.
Daniher made his debut in round 7, 2008 against Port Adelaide and played three games for the season. He also played in rounds 2, 3 and 4 in 2009 before lingering quad and abductor injuries limited him and he made no senior appearances in 2010.
He was ready to quit the game but was persuaded to give it one more try. After a solid pre-season, osteitus pubis which had troubled him previously, flared again and in July 2011 Daniher reluctantly announced his retirement.
He is the son of former Essendon player Anthony and was drafted under the father-son rule in 2007.
