Wally Chalmers was a smart and gritty winger who came to Essendon from Carlton District.

He was on the wing in both the 1911 and 1912 premiership teams and he was considered to be the best wingman in the League in 1911.

That year he was selected in the VFL team that played against Ballarat and Bendigo.

He lost two years from his career when Essendon stood out of the League in 1916 and 1917.

His parents were the well-known actors George Chalmers and Katie Towers.

Chalmers died on 17th November, 1966.
