John Carpenter was a rover who came from Ringwood where he played in 1966 and 1967. Prior to that he had been at Heathmont in 1964 and 1965.
He joined Essendon in 1968 and played two games in late 1969. He won the Reserves Best First Year Player and the Reserves Most Improved Player awards in 1969.
After leaving Essendon, he joined McLeod-Rosanna in 1970 and then played with Bayswater in late 1971. He then finished his career with Oakleigh Districts in 1972.
