Bill Cahill was a half-back who arrived from Launceston in Tasmania where he had started in 1928. He played for Essendon in 1937 and 1938.
He found himself playing against his brother when Essendon played North Tasmania Football Association in Launceston in 1938.
Shoulder problems cut short his League career and he returned to Launceston as captain-coach in 1939.
He was also a fine cricketer and he had represented Tasmania prior to joining Essendon.
Perhaps his best contribution to Essendon was urging the Club to sign the young Norm McDonald who he had played with while both were on active service.
He died on 7th March, 1966, at the age of 55.
