Player Profile

Geoff Burdett was a versatile player who filled in as a rover and even played some games at full-forward. He was particularly dangerous near goal.

He came from Hopetoun and first played with the Reserves on permit in 1975 before returning home.

After playing 31 games between 1976 and 1978 he left to become captain-coach of Warracknabeal in 1979. He then returned to Hopetoun for the 1980 season.

He came back to Essendon in 1981 to bolster Essendon playing depth and was on the wing in the night premiership team in that year.

After finally leaving Essendon, Burdett again went back to Hopetoun from 1982 to 1986 and was captain-coach from 1983 to 1986 winning premierships in 1983 and 1984. In 1987 he was captain-coach of Birchip.

He was Football Victoria Development manager for the Wimmera region in 2003.
