Peter Bradbury was a calm and talented left-footer who was a utility player playing mainly on the half-back flank. He was renowned for his long clearing dashes and he often created the loose man although at times he left his opponent unattended.
He came from Port Melbourne where he had played in their premiership team in 1981. Prior to that he had played for two years at Kilsyth and earlier still he had a stint with Essendon Reserves before being delisted in 1978.
He made the transition to the League successfully the second time round, winning Essendon's Best First Year Player award in 1983.
He was on the half-back flank in the 1984 premiership side. He was also in that role in the night premiership team and named on the half-back flank in the Inside Football team of the year in the same year.
Bradbury was Essendon's equal third top Brownlow Medal vote scorer in 1984.
In early 1986, he was controversially cleared to Collingwood and played 23 games there in that year and 1987.
Bradbury returned to Port Melbourne in 1988.
