ANNESLEY, Bob

Bob Annesley was a small, lightly built rover. He was a stylish mover and came to Essendon from Western Australia on a war time services permit.

He had played with Swan Districts between 1939 and 1941 and then during the War was captain-coach of the Midland Workshops from 1942 to 1944.

Annesley joined Essendon when he was posted to Melbourne in 1945 and played six games early in that year. His subsequent career at Essendon was affected by a hamstring injury.

He then returned to Swan Districts in 1946 and 1947 before playing one game with West Perth in 1948.

Annersley died on 3rd February, 2003.

Annesley later became captain-coach of Scarborough in Western Australia from 1953 to 1959 winning six consecutive premierships. He again returned to that club in 1967 and 1968, winning another flag in 1968.

He retired as a taxi proprietor after undergoing an operation.
