Anderson, Greg

Greg Anderson made his debut in Round 1, 1988 after being recruited from Port Adelaide. He had won the Magarey Medal as the best player in the SANFL the previous year. He also won All-Australian selection that year. A talented junior footballer, he won the Larke Medal as best player in Division One of the Under 18 Championship in 1983.

He was a dashing wingman with plenty of skill, could take a strong mark and had a penetrating left-foot. He was an integral part of the Essendon side in his five seasons, playing 103 games in that time.

Anderson came fourth in Essendon's Best and Fairest voting in 1989 also won the Club's Most Improved Player award. He was third in the Best and Fairest in 1990. He was named Best Clubman in 1991 and he also gained All-Australian selection.

He was best on ground and kicked two goals in the Club's night premiership triumph over North Melbourne in 1990.

Anderson left Essendon in 1992 to return to Adelaide where he continued his career with the Adelaide Crows from 1993 to 1996, playing 59 games and kicking 19 goals. He won All-Australian selection again in 1993, this time with Adelaide.
