A forward, Bruce Godfrey came to Essendon from Trentham and prior to that he had played one game with Richmond in 1910. He was a blacksmith by trade.
His only game for Essendon was in Round 2, 1912, for a win over Collingwood.
He enlisted in the AIF on 29th April, 1916, and served in France. He was Mentioned in Despatches.
He then served in the Home Guard during World War II.
Godfrey died on 7th October, 1947.
