Brian Gilmore came from Koondrook to the Seconds in 1949 and played 11 games mainly as a follower between 1950 and 1953.

He was a member of the Seconds premiership side in both 1950 and 1952.

After leaving Essendon, Gilmore played with Richmond Seconds in early 1954 and then with Kyneton until early 1955. He went on to play 10 games with St Kilda in later 1955.

In 1957, he played with St Kilda Seconds, Belgrave and then Echuca before retiring.

Gilmore later concentrated on professional athletics winning a number of major races including the quarter mile at Stawell.
