Player Profile

Dench was a solid half-back and back pocket. He came from local club Doutta Stars to the Essendon Reserves before joining Redan for a year and a half. He was a member of the Reserves premiership team in 1950. He also won the Reserves Best and Fairest Player award in 1954.

He made his senior debut in Round 1, 1955 and played all but one game that year. He won the Club's Most Unselfish Player award in 1955 but had trouble getting a regular game the following season.

Dench was cleared to Williamstown in 1957, but because of his age, the Association wouldn't let him play.
