Dearle was a dashing centreman with plenty of speed who came from East Fremantle in Western Australia. Prior to that he was with North Fremantle ex Scholars.

He originally played with Essendon under a war time service permit in 1942, but he was then cleared to Essendon.

Dearle starred in the centre in the 1942 premiership win. He also won the Best First Year Player award in 1942 and the Most Serviceable Player award in 1943. He also played in the 1943 losing Grand Final.

In 1948, he played with East Echuca before returning to Western Australia where he coached North Fremantle Amateurs.

He died in Fremantle on 25th Octobert 1979, aged 60.
