Player Profile

Chris Daniher was the last of the four Daniher brothers to play at Essendon. History was made when he played with his brothers Terry, Neale and Anthony at Moorabin in 1990, the first time four brothers had played in the same side in the VFL/AFL history. They also played together on 22 May 1990 in a State of Origin match for New South Wales versus Victoria.

Despite the weight of expectation on him, he carved out a very successful career. He struggled to get a senior games in his first few seasons, but with typical Daniher grit and determination, he became a regular member of the team.

He was an important member of the 1993 premiership team that defeated Carlton but had his best season in 1996, playing mainly on the ball, picking up a number of touches around the ground. He showed leadership and experience, which combined to make the year a good one for him. Unfortunately injury meant that he missed a number of games towards the end of 1996, almost cutting his season short prematurely.

He won the Club's Most Determined Player award in 1992 and Best Clubman in 1996.

When he retired at the end of the 1997 season the President noted that it ended a twenty year period when at least one of the brothers was on Essendon's senior list.

He returned to the family farm at Ungarie and played with Ungarie in the Northern Riverina League.
