ASHBY, Jason

Jason Ashby was selected with pick 34 in the 2012 National Draft but had to wait until Round 3 in 2014 to make his debut in a win over Carlton.

He came from the Oakleigh Chargers and showed that he was a good rebound defender/midfielder who was strong overhead and had poise under pressure.

Tall but lightly-built, Ashby had a good 2013 season in the VFL and a promising 2014 pre-season before making his debut in an 81-point win over arch rivals, Carlton.

He played five games in his debut season with spells in the VFL side, which characterised his time at the Bombers. He finished fifth in the VFL team's best and fairest in 2016.

Ashby struggled to establish a regular place in the team and was delisted at the end of the 2016 season.
