Tom Williams was something of a football nomad, he had played with Richmond (VFA) in 1898, then Leopold in 1901 and early in 1902. He played with West Perth later in 1902 before returning to Melbourne and joining Essendon.
He only played two games for Essendon in Rounds 1 and 2, 1903, against Fitzroy (loss) and St Kilda (draw), and failing to gain consistent selection, he returned to Leopold later in the season. He then returned to Richmond (VFA) in 1904 and played there for four years, including in their 1905 premiership.
His final move was to Ballarat and he died there on 18th September, 1938.
