Player Profile

Tony West was a speedy rover from Brunswick where he had played in the 1980 premiership team and had been runner-up in the VFA Liston Trophy in 1981. He had earlier played with the Carlton Reserves in 1974 and 1975.

He struggled to find a regular senior spot with Essendon in the strong teams of the time and played only eight games between 1982 and 1984. His chances weren't helped when he broke his leg in his first season and missed most of the year.

He won Essendon Reserves Best and Fairest award in 1984.

West returned to Brunswick in 1985 and finally won the Liston Trophy in 1986. He was also a member of Brunswick's 1985 premiership team.
