Tom Wardley was a half-back flanker from the Essendon Diggers.
He served in France with the 33rd Battalion during World War I and was wounded three times.
He made his debut in Round 3 against South Melbourne and then played the next 13 consecutive games.
His last game for the year and for the Club was also the last game Essendon played at the East Melbourne Cricket Ground before moving to the Essendon Recreation Reserve (Windy Hill) at the beginning of 1922.
His brother, Gilbert, played one game for Essendon in 1922.
Wardley died on 13th February, 1967.
