Player Profile

Bruce Waite was a big, strong fill-in ruckman from Albury. He was a good mover, took a fine mark, had power in his kicking and was dangerous in the forward pocket.

He played eight games in his first season, mostly as a reserve, including the finals series and the winning 1965 Grand Final team. He was just short of the pace and sureness in general play to command a regular ruck place until 1968.

He finished third in the Gardiner Medal in 1968 despite playing 13 senior games.

Waite went to Myrtleford after leaving Essendon, where he played from 1970 to 1973. He was Best and Fairest in the Ovens and Murray League in 1972. He returned to Albury in 1974 and played there until 1977.
