Player Profile

Essendon-born Jim Alexander came from Ascot Vale in 1918 and made his debut in the final round of the season in a loss to Collingwood. He played a further four games in 1919.

He had enlisted in the 1st AIF on the 11th May, 1918, but his parents objected on the grounds of him "being of premature birth and a very weak child from birth". He was stationed at Broadmeadows so was able to play football. He was discharged on 18th July, 1919.

Alexander died on 2nd December, 1972.
