James "Jock" Turner's only game was in Round 4, 1930, against Hawthorn in which he kicked two goals in a comfortable win.
He later played with Coburg in 1932.
He played with Yallourn in 1933 and was the Gippsland Football League's leading goalkicker with 126 goals. He returned to Melbourne at the end of the season and was injured in a motor cycle accident on the day he started work at the Melbourne Gas Company in October 1933. He returned to Essendon in 1934 and played no more senior games but may have played Reserves.
He returned to Yallourn in 1934 where former Essendon player, Vin Irwin was coach, and kicked fifteen goals in his first two games and was again the Gippsland League's leading goalkicker.
Turner was killed in a motor cycle accident at Yallourn on 7th March, 1935, aged only 26.
