Bob Taylor was a half-back flanker from the North Essendon Methodists. He won the F. H. Woods Medal as Best and Fairest in the Essendon District League Under-age Competition in 1948.

He had difficulty gaining a permanent spot in the Seniors and he played many games in the Seconds. He was a member of the Seconds' premiership side in 1952.
